One of Labour’s lasting legacies from its years in power was the explosion of red tape, form filling and the ticking of boxes.

Today’s politicians talk about sorting this problem out, but not much seems to have happened thus far.

However you look at it, if a police officer is sitting in an office tapping away, they are not out on the streets making their presence felt. Today, more than ever before, the public want to see police officers in the community and on patrol.

So, just how big an issue is paperwork for the police? I think you will be surprised at the answer.
